God's Artistic Work

On July 21, 2006 there was a spectacular sunset and I was able to capture some of it through photos...

Some of the photos look just like an oil painting to me...I was thinking about Him Who is so majestic that He creates living oil paintings using the canvas of the sky, and He makes a new one every single day. Of all the famous artists in the world whose paintings sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars, there is absolutely no comparison to these living paintings.

His artwork is more breathtaking than anything...I've always loved sunsets and to this day I try to watch as many sunsets as I can because it is, quite literally, watching the hand of God at work.

Beth Moore in a recent teaching (God's Purpose for You, Part 1) on Life Today shared that the word used for "think" in the Old Testament is a word that indicates an artistic work. So Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." tells us that God considers us as He would a beautiful artistic work. After all, we are HIS beautiful artistic work.

The sunset photos I captured that night were so stunning I put them in movie format with one of my songs, Holy is the Lord, behind it.

Holy is the Lord was birthed through a vision of Revelation 4:8 where the four living creatures around the throne of God "do not rest day or night, saying: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!" (NKJV) The verses of the song are scripture with a response in each chorus. In the song, the vision changes in the end when I saw us, His children, around the throne. As I recorded the song, I could hear an instrument in my head, an unusual instrument making a holy sound without words because there are no adequate words. This explains my playing the didgeridoo in the song. (more on the song, including lyrics, are here)

I would like to invite you to view a display of God's splendor and consider as you watch how this Artist thinks of you.
