What this ministry is NOT:
It is not psychotherapy or emotional counseling, nor is it ever intended to take the place of mental health professionals or doctors.
I will not encourage people who take medications for mental conditions to stop taking them.
I will not discourage people from seeking and receiving help from mental health professionals.
I
will not water down "mental illness", call it things like "the blues", or pretend it doesn't exist.
I will not think less of persons who struggle with mental illness.
I will not talk down to anybody or imply things such as if only you prayed harder or had more faith you wouldn't struggle with things such as depression, anxiety, panic, etc. God does heal but He doesn't always choose to heal emotional illness in this lifetime just as He doesn't always choose to heal physical illness in this lifetime. See Does God Always Heal?
These pages do no hold a feel good, "pump you up" kind of message – though such messages are wonderful and necessary, the focus of this ministry is to help real people with real emotional problems and conditions find hope and purpose and freedom. This does not mean we won't laugh and have fun along the way, it just means the focus is dealing with this issue directly and specifically.
What this ministry IS:
It is a place for real people with their real conditions to find acceptance and hope.
It is a place for Christians to break free from the bondage that they are somehow less effective spiritually because their illness is of the mind rather than the body.
It is a place to empower people who are already beaten down from feeling inferior because of mental illness or mental distress; to strengthen those who are struggling from the effects of emotional illness and distress; to teach them how to apply the medicine of the Word of God to their situation, and train them to walk in the joy of the Lord.
It is a ministry specifically to reach people with emotional distress and/or illness and help them find wholeness and freedom.
About me:
I am not qualified nor called to be a mental health counselor. As such, the information I share on these pages comes out of personal experience and my own help network and is never intended to take the place of professional counseling.
